Insurance and Benefits

  • Gladewater Independent School District is committed to investing in the health and well being of one of its greatest assets—its employees.  As part of this commitment, the district offers health insurance and other benefits to our employees and their families so that they are empowered to live healthy, balanced and fulfilling lives.

Medical Insurance

  • Group medical insurance coverage is available to eligible employees. GISD’s medical insurance contribution is $225 for full time employees. Insurance coverage is provided through TRS-ActiveCare, the statewide public school health insurance program. The plan year is from September 1 through August 31.  Current employees can make changes in their insurance coverage during open enrollment each summer.  Services are provided through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas.  For more information, please contact the TRS/BCBS website at https://www.bcbstx.com/trsactivecare/coverage.

Supplemental Insurance

  • GISD also offers many voluntary benefits, such as, dental insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, etc.  GISD maintains a $10,000 life insurance policy for all full time employees.  Voluntary benefits are managed through First Financial Group of America (FFGA).  For more information, please visit GISD’s employee benefits website at https://ffbenefits.ffga.com/gladewaterisd/.
